Technically and Aesthetically, Technicolor Games Scores Again for EA with FIFA 22.

Technicolor Games collaboration with Electronic Arts (EA) began back in 2008, and the team has worked on every FIFA edition released since FIFA 2009. With each passing year, the relationship between Technicolor Games and EA teams has become stronger as it evolved into a highly collaborative and efficient partnership.

This year was no exception. For FIFA 22, the Games’ Character team raised the quality bar from previous titles, creating Player Heads and Clothing with increased photorealism in-game, most notably with the hair. More realistic Clothing and Accessories, sometimes based on scan data, were other times created from scratch, a much more challenging achievement.

All assets were integrated into the Frostbite engine and tested before publishing to EA – all while pushing the overall quality both technically and aesthetically.

On the Environment front, the Games team worked on Stadiums, Story Mode Assets, Trophies, Mascots, Accessories, and Kits.

Having worked on Stadium and Story Mode asset creation over multiple years, the team brings a wealth of lessons learned and in-depth, in-engine knowledge – enabling them to complete tasks from end-to-end. The team also enjoyed the opportunity to stretch their talents on FIFA 22, including Trophy creation with “funky” unconventional designs and work on a Volta stadium based on futuristic design concepts. The team created a total of 4672 assets for FIFA 22.
