With our team of talented artists, we've partnered with multiple development studios, effectively expanding their own art teams. Our Art Directors, who oversee all our games projects, will oversee these designs from concept to in-engine execution.

Meeting Your Creative Needs
Technicolor Games is the arm of our group that focuses on the creative needs for the gaming industry. We’ve collaborated with many of the top game developers in the world and our work can be seen in many of the most regarded games out there.

Resident Evil 2 Remake
Following a successful collaboration on Resident Evil 7, Technicolor again joined with Capcom to deliver an epic survival horror game reimagined, based on the classic Resident Evil 2. The remake for a new generation features more realistic, organic motion in the animations as players engage with scary enemy humanoid characters, canine zombie dogs, and other creepily attacking creatures. Technicolor Animation & Games handled body and facial Mo-Cap cleanup and Keyframe Animation for enemy characters and nightmarish creatures such as the Lickers, using Mo-Cap data shot on the ground for the latter to animate them climbing and moving around on both walls and roof. Using Faceware, the team also produced realistic facial animation for player characters, bringing their facial expressions and game characters to life.
Assassin's Creed: Odyssey
Assassin's Creed: Odyssey is the 11th major installment (and 20th overall) in the highly popular action role-playing game by Ubisoft. Technicolor Animation & Games spent 20 months engaged with the Ubisoft ACD team to create an amazingly wide variety of assets (numbering more than 2200) for this game, including characters, cloths, boats, biomes, statues, jewels, weapons and other props. The result lets gamers choose their own path as a legendary Spartan hero in the world of ancient Greece. The Technicolor team was proud to work on creating this open-world game that one Games Industry reviewer called “an astonishing creation, extraordinarily generous and solidly crafted.”
Spyro Reignited Trilogy
Toys for Bob’s remake Spyro Reignited Trilogy marks the 20th anniversary of the much loved video games of the late 1990s. Remastered from the ground-up, it includes shiny new versions of the three original games: Spyro the Dragon, Spyro2: Ripto’s Rage!, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon. Technicolor Animation & Games was involved early on, from kick-off as a creative partner to a full scope of work that included 20 animators recreating all cinematic content – from story build and layout to stylized animation – and 12 animators working on in-game animation and loops. The scaled-up adventure – with state-of-the-art graphical improvements in stunning HD – gives fans a completely reimagined, modern gaming experience.
Starlink: Battle for Atlas
In a growing partnership with Ubisoft, Technicolor Animation & Games collaborated on the major release, Starlink: Battle for Atlas. The space action-adventure lets gamers play the way they want by mixing and matching starship components, pilots, and weapons, each with their own characteristics and special abilities. The team created 40 concept designs for in-game elements; 26 minutes of pre-rendered cinematics comprising 25 characters, 12 sets, 12 spaceships, and multiple props; more than 200 FX shots; in-game assets including 17 creatures and over 100 environment assets; and conducted live integration and testing in Ubisoft’s proprietary game engine. “We had more touchpoints on this game than probably any other we’ve worked on so far,” exclaimed Owen Hurley, Vice President, Creative.

Multitude of Services

Our motion capture animation team has worked on everything from highly complex in-game animations, high end cinematic content, to Faceware retargeting and everything in between. Keyframe animation has been at the core of our studio since its inception; we win Emmys for our animation! We cast our talented animators based on their skills and passions, rather than defining them as ‘games animators’ or ‘tv animators’, so when a new project comes in, we ensure we crew it up with the most relevant, talented highly suited animators to suit its needs. Working on both AAA and mobile titles, our keyframers have breathed life into multiple award winning games.

Technicolor’s asset group is an industry leading powerhouse of skilled environment, hard surface, organic, and character artists. We remain resolutely pipeline agnostic, seamlessly dropping into our partners’ pipelines and toolsets. At any time we could be working in Unreal, Unity and several proprietary engines, taking assets through the pipe from concept to level completion. Our skilled Substance trained surfacing artists create next generation PBR assets for top industry clients. Our team includes many highly talented sculptors, producing characters, creatures, as well as working on blend shapes and photo real heads.

We offer support and integrated pipelines for multiple game engines. We currently work with four proprietary AAA engines as well as Unreal 4 and Unity. Our robust technical art team partner with our clients to ensure tools and processes are in sync, and our artists are able to work effectively. Our engine involvement ranges from full multiplayer level construction, destruction, down to asset import & testing.

Technicolor is deeply involved in creating immersive entertainment, which puts us on the frontline of the virtual reality evolution as it gathers momentum. With our in-engine expertise, skilled artists, and family of VFX brands including MPC, Mikros, the Mill and Mr. X, we collaborate with leading developers on exciting VR games and other immersive experiences.
